I’m BACK!

March 21, 2008 – 1:46 pm

So sorry I’ve been gone a while. I’ve been interviewing for a REAL job, had a death in the family and otherwise just been a little crazy lately. Poor Tay probably things we totally forgot about her fabulous layout, but the truth is, Laura sent me the info a long time ago and my crazy life has just interfered with me getting it up here. But it’s time to get back into the swing of things and share this fabulously fun layout with you:

As always, you can click on the layout to see credits and leave her some love. She had wanted to give some kudos to Jen Wilson for running a great sale during which some of the goodies you see in this layout were purchased. Since I’m such a slacker, the sale is probably over, but I’ll still give Jen a nice little plug here…go check out Jen’s site! She has a new blog you can see here, too!

Happy Friday!

March 7, 2008 – 2:35 pm

We’re having another snow day…this is just plain crazy! Anyway, thought I’d share a couple of cool things going on in digi world today. First, check out this freebie:

This is from the new Cinnamon-Designs team. You can visit this thread at DST for a link to grab the freebie :) .

Next, if you haven’t seen Songbird Avenue’s March kit, here’s the preview:

As always, revenue generated by this Songbird Avenue kit is donated to a charity. This month’s worthy recipient is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. You can grab this beautiful kit and feel good about yourself, too! Here’s the link to buy it.

I also found a couple of great challenges for you today.

Okay, that’s all I have for you today, but if you’d like to add some great challenges to the links section at Digiscrap Directory, you can do that for FREE! Please link to the blog or forum that contains the challenges and not the single post. You can add your great challenges here!

First Featured Designer, Theresa Hernandez!

March 1, 2008 – 5:57 pm

I’m so glad you stopped by! For my first featured kit, I’ve chosen a kit from my first paid page listing here, Theresa Hernandez of NDISB. You can see her designer page listing here. This is her current favorite kit, Deep Winter:

Look at those vibrant colors and that adorable coffee cup! You can find this kit in her store at NDISB for now and in her other stores soon. She’s been generous enough to give us a coupon code for 50% off her entire store (excluding commercial use items), good through March 31st…the code is TH-DSD-7unh5rx .

Theresa and I were talking about how much time designers spend doing previews and I told her about our Designer Services section where I hope to have some Preview Designer listings soon! What? You want to do that? Then go get yourself a page listing! What?!? You don’t have a website? Well, do you have a blog? Put a link to your blog on your listing! Put a contact me link on there with your e-mail. And for the next few days, I’m going to let you add ONE listing under any of the Designer Services categories for FREE! You must be qualified to provide these services and be able to provide some kind of samples and/or references upon request to qualify for a free listing. If you’re new to providing the service, you should at least be able to provide a reference from a designer whose CT you are on or even a good personal reference…just something so that the designer can verify that you are legitimately providing the service that you are advertising.

Seriously, thanks for stopping by! I hope we can make this a hugely successful resource for all of us and I sincerely appreciate your support!

Looking for a few great fonts?

February 28, 2008 – 6:00 pm

Then check this out…

http://1000wordsphotography.typepad.com/allie/free-handwritten-fonts.html

I found this link in the forum at My Scrapbook Art and just had to share. I’m a sucker for good handwriting fonts and there are some great ones, here.

In other news, the forum and gallery at Peace, Love and Scraps are now open. This is a completely open community and my hope for it is that it becomes a warm and cozy, uplifting place to go and chat with friends. It is a cross-promotional opportunity for advertisers at Digiscrap Directory right now. Eventually, I’d love to have traffic to support sponsors for the PL&S site alone, but for now, I want to be sure everyone is getting their money’s worth so all banners purchased for one place will appear at both. Wanna know more? Click here for information.

If you do decide to stop by the community and/or gallery at Peace, Love and Scraps, please visit this post first. It explains site guidelines and other information you need to know.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll try to have a great and uplifting layout to show you all tomorrow!

Happy Wednesday!

February 27, 2008 – 1:59 pm

Hope everyone is well and escaping all the bugs that are going around right now. We are still fighting them, but I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel so it’ll be okay. I guess if I need a silver lining, it’s that when I take B to the doctor today at hubby’s insistance (she has a fever and no other symptoms), I can at least zip through the Starbucks Drive Thru and grab a White Chocolate Mocha :) . I need to photograph it to do the Sweet Shoppe’s Sugar Free Challenge, I really have a great idea for it.

Speaking of challenges, let’s talk about sketch ones. There are tons out there, I know. In fact, there are tons of everything out there for us, so much so that we seem to be so spoiled we rarely use or appreciate the resources we do have. Still, I have found a great one this week that really deserves some consideration. My friend and former CT member Nikki is hosting this one at The Digi Chick:

Not only did sue do a fabulous sketch, but she also did a template for it, which you can grab by going over to the challenge thread in the forums at The Digi Chick. Amanda Heimann is giving away a coupon to her store for all participants and the winner will get a coupon from her. You can’t lose, right? You’re going to end up with a fabulous layout because of this wonderful template and might even get some free goods! Yay!

You’ll notice that there are now banners up on the blog here. They are the same ones as in the forum and gallery here at Peace, Love and Scraps. I’d love to have some sponsors to help cover the costs here. Right now, the banners are also being shown on the Digiscrap Directory site, though eventually the two sites will have different sponsors (I hope).

So, go, do this challenge! Be a sport and post back in the forum so Nikki can see what you did with her great sketch! Have a great day and Happy Scrapping!

Change of plans here

February 26, 2008 – 4:48 pm

First, if I have asked permission to post a layout here and received it, I’ll ask again now because I am going to just say that I am going to partner this site with Digiscrap Directory. I haven’t received enough support for the directory to justify the time it will take to do it, so I am going to combine it with this site and just put whatever time and positive energy I have into both. I really believe in the directory and think it can become a great resource with just a little support from the community so I refuse to give up on it. At the same time, I have three classes to complete by May, one of which requires me to read the entire Old Testament so, um, I won’t have alot of time to devote to either site for a while. So, for this reason, I’ll do one post here, which will appear on the front page of the directory. It could be a layout share, like I was doing before, it could be a sponsor announcement from a paid sponsor at the Digiscrap Directory or it could be like this one, a post to tell you about a great kit and a couple of great challenges I found in the last few days…call it sharing inspiration, if you’d like :) .

This kit is absolutely gorgeous:

I used this kit to do a challenge I also found at the Sweet Shoppe, the One Word Challenge. You can find it here and see my layout here. Meanwhile, I’m going add this and some other challenges from the Sweet Shoppe forums to the directory under a new category, challenges. Anyone can add links to that category for free, but please follow the directions. Don’t link to your challenge each week, just put one link to the blog or forum where the challenges is regularly posted.

Thanks for reading! Come check out the new PL&S forum and gallery when you have a sec…just like this blog, it’s my way of trying to bring back some positive energy to our community so please remember…cit’s a no negativity zone!

Forgive the shameless plug but…

February 17, 2008 – 2:26 pm

I’ve been absent because I’ve been working on a big project and I’m going to take a second and share it with you:

Please take a minute to check it out when you have time. There aren’t alot of digital links, yet, because I am just opening the doors today, but I think it has the potential to be an incredible resource for our community.

Thoughts and feedback are welcome, just use the Contact Us link at the top of any of the directory pages.

Next week, I’ll try to get back to the regularly scheduled programming. I already have permission to post a few great layouts, I just need to get on schedule and do it daily. However, my kids are out for “Winter Break” next week so I can’t make any promises :D .

Enjoy your Sunday!

Owie :(

February 2, 2008 – 2:11 pm

What a great layout by Hom74 (Karen). I love the journaling and the photo of the sweet little toe with the bandaid…

As always, click on the layout to leave her some love and hey, say something so I know someone is out there reading, okay?

Happy Weekend!

From one of this week’s inspiring galleries…

February 1, 2008 – 2:13 pm

Missys3lilbugs has an amazing gallery at My Scrapbook Art.  She’s great at multiple photo layouts and, for you rectangle lovers out there, she dabbles in those, too!  Here’s her favorite recent layout:

She’s a Mom of twins so I know she must be amazing, hee hee…here’s a couple of lines she wrote about herself:

I’m a stay at home mom of 3 boys. I started digi scrapping after I had my third boy and have been addicted since.

If you’d like to browse her inspiring gallery, check out the link in the sidebar and go leave her some love on the layout above by clicking on it!

I almost forgot!

January 31, 2008 – 3:20 pm

I put out a call for guest bloggers today.  If you think you have some great creative spirit or positive energy to share with us, please contact me via the link in the sidebar!  You can share a great challenge, a fabulous layout (with permission, of course, if it isn’t yours) or just something that makes you happy about our hobby.  I’m open to regular help with the blog as well so don’t be shy, let me know if you love to write, love to share, love to create, love to challenge and want to be involved in a great positive site!
